Our Dream
We envision a world where middle and high schools girls and young women walk confidently in their self-worth, demand respect, and are equipped with the knowledge and tools to build and maintain healthy relationships. In doing so, they protect themselves from teen-dating and intimate partner violence and contribute to stronger families and healthier communities.
Our Commitment
The mission of the Building Beautiful Black Girls (BBBG) Project is to create safe, nurturing spaces that empower middle and high school girls ages 13–18 with the confidence, knowledge, and tools to build healthy relationships, make safe choices, and protect themselves from the harmful effects of teen-dating and intimate-partner violence. Through education, prevention, and community partnerships, we equip girls to own their worth, embrace their identity, and contribute to healthier, safer communities for generations to come.
Our work goes beyond teaching healthy relationships — we help girls recognize their worth, heal where it’s needed, and rise above cycles of violence, isolation, and silence.

Our program is open to girls from all backgrounds and experiences, with an intentional emphasis on Black girls — who too often face disproportionate barriers to resources, representation, and safety.
Our Approach
Rooted in love, sisterhood, and legacy, BBBG provides life tools, leadership tools, and foundation-building tools that help girls and young women thrive — not just in relationships, but also in classrooms, careers, families, and communities.
What We Do
BBBG equips girls with practical tools and real-world skills that help them navigate adolescence, relationships, and life with confidence.
Through interactive learning experiences, discussions, reflection activities, and skill-building exercises, participants strengthen their ability to recognize their worth, use their voice, make healthy choices, and protect their futures.

Chrystal Truss, Founder and Executive Director
Chrystal Truss is an Executive Leadership Coach, nonprofit strategist, and ordained minister with more than 20 years of experience strengthening community-based and philanthropic organizations across Kansas City. Her leadership journey includes key roles at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, SchoolSmartKC, the Kansas City Freedom School Initiative, and the Kansas City Missouri School District.
She earned her Executive Leadership Coaching Certification from the Kansas Leadership Center in Wichita, Kansas, and studied Business Management at Webster University.
As the founder and CEO of IEC Partnership, Chrystal helps nonprofits and small businesses strengthen operations, build effective teams, and achieve sustainable growth. Through this work, she provides strategic planning, training, and leadership development to organizations seeking to expand their community impact.
Inspired by her personal experiences and passion for prevention, Chrystal created The Building Beautiful Black Girls Project—a youth empowerment initiative that partners with schools and community organizations to host sessions focused on self-worth, identity, family health, nonviolence, and safe neighborhoods. Having witnessed the impact of domestic violence within her own family, she was determined to develop a program that empowers girls to recognize their worth, build resilience, and break harmful cycles that affect so many women and families.
Beyond her professional roles, Chrystal remains deeply involved in community outreach and advocacy. She has spoken at women’s empowerment conferences locally and nationally, hosted youth nonviolence events, and led a Kansas City Freedom School site, creating opportunities for education, safety, and connection.
Chrystal blends faith, leadership, and service to uplift others, with a mission to inspire and equip young women and families to live safe, successful, and purpose-filled lives free from intimate partner and domestic violence.
When not leading or serving, she enjoys watching sunrises and sunsets, exercising to stay healthy, spending quality time with her family and friends, and reading about health, leadership, and personal development strategies.

Stacey Jennings, Board of Directors
Stacey Jennings is the Founder and CEO of Stacey E Jennings, LLC, a professional coaching firm. She is a certified Personal Development Life Coach, Authenticity Facilitator, and Inspirational Speaker. Her passion to inspire women and others to love God, love themselves, and live with purpose fuels her community service.
Stacey started her business in 2020 after becoming an Associate Certified Coach in 2020, receiving her certification in Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in 2021, and joining the John Maxwell Certified Leadership Team in 2024.
Alongside her coaching and speaking engagements, Stacey has been a Senior Account Executive at Trabon Group, where she has worked for over 30 years.
Stacey devotes her time, energy, and resources to helping individuals become the best version of themselves. She volunteers regularly at local domestic violence shelters, offering encouragement and hope through her ministry, Service Advocates Against Domestic Violence (SAADV). She also facilitates Vision Board events, empowerment workshops, and provides one-on-one coaching sessions at the shelters.
Stacey also serves on the Board of Directors for The Nia Project, The Building Beautiful Black Girls Project, and the advisory committee for Giving Hope and Help, nonprofit organizations committed to empowerment and transformation.
As a Board Member for The Building Beautiful Black Girls Project, Stacey is committed to educating and empowering girls to become confident and courageous women who are well-equipped and inspired to live a purpose-driven life.
In her free time, Stacey enjoys fine dining, relaxing beachside, reading a good book, taking part in local 5k charity walks, and spending time with her family, especially her two grandchildren.
