MY D.N.A. — Do Not Alter
Every girl deserves a space where she feels safe and can discover her value, strengthen her voice, and grow in confidence.
MY D.N.A. is a FREE, interactive three-week experience for middle and high school girls designed to help them explore who they are, recognize their worth, build healthy boundaries, advocate for themselves, and make choices that protect their futures.
Through fun and engaging activities, insightful conversations, creative expressions, and practical tools, girls will be encouraged to embrace who they are without changing themselves to fit someone else’s expectations.
The Liberty Juvenile Office is serving as the host site for this series, and girls with no connection to the Juvenile Office are encouraged to participate.
Whether your girl attended MY D.N.A. before or will be joining us for the first time, she is welcome!

During three Thursday afternoons in July, the Building Beautiful Black Girls Project partnered with The Transition Zone to present The SHERO in Me, a confidence-building mini-session for middle and high school girls.
Through interactive activities, personal reflection, and group discussion, the girls practiced affirming themselves, using their voices, setting healthy boundaries, and identifying trusted people within their circles of support.
The sessions created a supportive space for participants to explore their self-worth, recognize the power of their voices, and strengthen the confidence needed to make safe, healthy choices.
The series concluded with a celebration of what the girls learned and a reminder that the SHERO within each of them is strong, valuable, confident, and worthy of respect.
The SHERO in me knows her worth, uses her voice, and protects her future.
The Village In Action!
Together We Can Make A Greater Impact!
Why We Created This Event
Every day, young people are impacted by choices, relationships, and environments that shape their future — sometimes in ways they are not prepared for, including exposure to unhealthy relationships, pressure, and violence.
For many families, it is not “someone else’s child.” It is someone they know, someone they love… it could even be their own child.
We believe it does not have to be that way.
The Village in Action was created to bring youth, parents, and community leaders together to create safe spaces, build confidence, share knowledge, and equip the next generation with tools that support healthy decision-making and long-term success.
Because protecting and empowering our youth is not someone else’s responsibility — it belongs to all of us. That is why the Village matters.
My HOPE is that this event BUILDS MOMENTUM for our community “The Village” to continue collaborating to protecting our youth!

My D.N.A. = Do Not Alter
This exciting 5-week experience empowers girls to discover their voice, build confidence, and stand strong in who they are. Rooted in the message “My D.N.A. – Do Not Alter,” this program reminds girls that their identity, value, and voice are not meant to be changed or compromised. Each session dives into real-life skills and protective factors that help girls make healthy choices, set boundaries, and recognize their worth. Through engaging activities, meaningful conversations, and creative crafts, girls will strengthen their skills and earn weekly empowerment milestones throughout the program. The final session is a celebration of their growth, featuring certificates of completion and special gifts!
